Where the money goes
Thorn
Thorn builds technology to defend children from sexual abuse online — detecting child sexual abuse material, helping investigators find victims faster, and giving platforms tools to stop abuse from spreading. They do not run field rescues. They make the digital fight possible.
What they actually do
Platform safety. Tools so tech companies can find known and previously unseen child sexual abuse material — images, video, and now text used in grooming and sextortion — and take it down before it spreads.
Victim identification. Digital-forensics software (Thorn Detect / CSAM Classifier) so investigators can triage devices faster. In 2025, 89% of surveyed investigators said the classifier saved them time.
Research. Published work on how children are exploited online, including Survivor Insights — the source behind several figures on this site.
What your pledge funds
Correctional is not yet a 501(c)(3). Until we are, 100% of pledges and gifts through this site go to Thorn via Every.org. Thorn is a 501(c)(3), EIN 27-0943677. Your receipt comes from them.
Thorn is dual-funded. Research and technical innovation are 100% philanthropic. Child-victim identification is mixed (about one-third gifts). Platform safety (Safer) is 100% earned revenue from tech companies — so we will not pretend your $150 “buys” a file taken down. Gifts strengthen the work donors actually pay for: research, engineering, and a share of investigator tools.
2025 and 2026, in brief
2025: 5.3 million suspected CSAM files. 86 tech companies using detection products. 415 billion files processed by customers that year. 40 countries.
First half of 2026: 1.4 million suspected CSAM files found, 1.1 trillion files processed in six months. Same 86 companies, same 1,046 agencies. Source: Thorn’s 2025 Impact Report and August 2026 mid-year update.
